Beyond the patchwork of personal experiences and considerations of self-identity, I feel myself part of a broader continuum. I am both descendant and ancestor, inheritor and benefactor, in which the Earth and life and love are the inheritance. I feel a deep connection with the natural world and a shared responsibility to protect and sustain it. Emotionally, I have come to regard the natural world with the same esteem I feel for family and loved ones. In these images, natural forms are layered onto old family photographs, different aspects of a single unit occupying the same space.
