Beyond the patchwork of personal experiences and fixed considerations of self-identity, I feel myself part of a broader continuum. I am both descendant and ancestor, inheritor and benefactor, in which the Earth and life and love are the inheritance. I feel a deep connection with the natural world and an urgent responsibility to protect and sustain it. Emotionally, I have come to equate habitat and species loss in the natural world with the loss of loved ones in my personal world. In these images, natural forms and family photographs occupy the same space, each as a loving memory spoken within the same visual breath.
